Dear Friends, our camp is about to start! Once again, we will learn English with native speakers, play games, and meet new friends. Sounds great, right? What if we tell you that there are more great things are waiting for you July 16-26?
In 2018, one of the camp leaders, Irina, held a daily workshop for those interested in crafts. The workshop was an alternative to daily sports time. Each session was about an hour and a half long. A good number of teens, adults, both boys and girls alike, enjoyed attending this workshop.
It was a great chance to express their creativity and take a short break from learning English. The inner artist became alive in everyone!
Irina believes that there is a spark of creativity inside every individual. That spark is formed in childhood, but we rarely have time to foster it in our daily routine. We did have such time at camp! Each participant had a chance to paint a picture using traditional or nontraditional techniques such as felting a picture. Also, the participants had an opportunity to make key chains, pins, or other small gift items.
A mini exhibition of the campers’ art works was organized at the end of camp. It was simply amazing! Looking at the final products some people regretted that they never made it to any of the sessions.
Surprising Workshop opens again in 2019! The plan is to create new felt accessories, keychains, keyholders, and pins. Make pictures using new interesting techniques is also on the list.
Kids age seven to eleven will have a separate workshop. They will have a chance to create pictures and/or do beadwork.
This year Irina is going to use a new popular technique in art therapy – right brain drawing. Even though Irina is not really into psychology, she uses this approach and its techniques. Even people who are not artists can learn to create pictures using this approach.
We are confident everyone will find an activity they like at our camp. We are looking forward to seeing you at English Camp 2019!
